on the R640 BCM5720 NIC issue, do you maybe have some link to an article where Dell confirms it?
I’d be happy to warn my SysAdmins about it.

I spoke with my Dell contacts, and they stated they do not have any public links regarding this issue, only internal documentation. Long story short, do not use the BCM5720 Quad Port Ethernet daughter card on the PowerEdge R640 servers. If you do have it configured with this card, open a ticket with Dell Support and they will swap it out with a upgraded card.
